Why We Started

UCHEH is a grassroots organization of diverse people interested in advancing higher education in Haiti. While Haiti’s educational system has challenges at all levels, we choose to make an impact at the point of greatest multiplication.
Training a student to become a teacher changes the life of that teacher and also the lives of the students the teacher will impact. Training a student to become a doctor changes the life of the doctor and the lives of those in need of medical care. Community service is a hallmark of our vision of a generation of Haitian students who will live and work in Haiti, being empowered to find solutions to issues facing their country, and create opportunities for others in their communities.
Our Mission

Our mission is to build a center for higher education in Haiti where students are equipped, through education, training, and community service, to become thinkers, problem solvers and entrepreneurs. We seek to promote economic development through the activities of program graduates who will be required to remain locally engaged for an agreed upon period of time.
