Ketlene Papillon
Board Member
Ketlene Papillon is a native of Haiti who emigrated to the United States while a high school student. A hospital administrator, she obtained a B.S.N., in Nursing and B.S., in Biology from Loyola University, Chicago, and a M.S., in Nursing Administration with a minor in Public Health from DePaul University, Chicago.
Ketlene has extensive experience in the field of health care. Starting as a hospital staff nurse at Michael Reese Hospital, she became clinical supervisor at Mount Sinai Hospital where she trained, scheduled, and evaluated performance of nurses and assistants, and contributed to professional development of staff by lecturing in ICU core orientation and nursing grand rounds. She next served as Nursing/Hospital Administrator of the University of Chicago Hospitals where she guided staff through problem solving and resolution, ensured compliance to policies and regulatory requirements, and collaborated with stakeholders to ensure efficient nursing operations and outstanding patient care. As Supervisor of Clinical Services at Advocate Health Center, she was responsible for the day-to-day management of all nursing activities; implementation and development of center specific policies and procedures; staff development, hiring, training, and performance management; and budget control. Ketlene also served as Operations Manager at Advocate Medical Group – Sykes Center where she supervised supervisors and mentored selected staff to leadership roles and oversaw the successful implementation of electronic medical records. As RN Manager, Clinical Operations at Rush University Medical Group, Ketlene managed a staff of 20 direct reports, being responsible for hiring, onboarding, annual competency and performance review, discipline, and termination; monitored and ensured staff compliance to policies, procedures, and regulatory standards; and acted as liaison to advance organizational strategy and improvement initiatives. In her current role as House Supervisor/Hospital Administrator at Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Ketlene serves as preceptor to new supervisors, and partners with Managers, the Chief Nurse Executive, and all other department leaders to optimize patient outcomes, promote evidence-based practice, resolve problems, and ensure compliance to regulatory standards. She monitors productivity and allocates resources appropriately to provide safe and cost efficient care.
Ketlene has used her education and training to benefit those without ready access to medical care in Haiti. She participates in medical mission trips every 1-2 years with global health teams from Rush University Medical Center. Teams provide healthcare in Hinche, a commune in the Central department; Pignon, a commune in the Nord department, and Jerusalem, a tent city which became a permanent community for those left homeless by the 2010 earthquake. Approximately 200 adults and children are seen each day suffering from conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, malnutrition, and skin disorders.
